Still Here Someplace, Just Can't Remember Where......... Yeah, it's me....back in the real world again. I know I have been putting up something every now and then but not really doing much more than that lately. So officially, I've been slacking. I read the comments left here but just haven't been by my friends spaces to comment back to them or to keep up with what's going on in their world. But I do have a really good excuse. Uh, my dog ate my homework. Yeah....that's it. No seriously, I changed jobs about a month ago and I haven't seen anything but my bed since. Or at least that's what it feels like lately. I'm sure you can all relate to that really good job. You know the one. You work 10 hours a day for 4 days a week. You can't stop envisioning what you can do and the things you can accomplish with 3 days off in a row. Get all wrapped up in what it's going to be like and BAM! It knocks you back into reality. But wanting to get off of the graveyard shift, just about anything sounded like a better deal. My new job was supposed to consist of working Thursday through Sunday, 10 hours a day. Just to give you a taste of it, I've put in 3 weeks in the last 2. The 2 weeks before that I was putting in 13 hours a day, but it was only 4 days a week. Now I'm up to 5 days a week and still averaging 13 hours or more a day. Thankfully, the 5 days a week will end after this week and then I can go back to 4 and have my 3 days off again. But on the down side, if all I do is try to catch up on my sleep, I don't know if that's going to be any better. We'll just have to see. I miss doing things on my space, but I just can't seem to find the time or energy to do like I used to, even for small stuff. I've noticed that alot of my friends seem to not update as often either and I was trying to figure out how I could do what I like and juggling home and work as well. And with spring and summer coming up and all the outdoor stuff I have to do, I really have to get a handle on this quick. So going back to the drawing board to prioritize things properly again, I decided to try to post just once, no more than twice, a week. I am hoping that this leaves me the time I require to visit all of you and get caught up on what's going on. I really miss all of you. So even though this job is really kicking my butt right now, it will get better. The time frame is just a little fuzzy at the moment. So please bear with me, I am back and will be around to all of you soon. I promise!!!! In the meantime, I ran across this memo and it really hit the nail on the head, not only for me but just about anyone out there that seems to be working for someone that expects them to do 3 employees job at the same time. Hope you enjoy it or it at least makes you laugh. Unfortunately, in my case, I can relate to this and expect to see this memo circulating around my work place real soon. Anyway, I thought this was a good way to start out the week. Oh, and here's a tip from someone that works in the gambling industry. DON"T GO TO WORK FOR A CASINO! The only thing that is consistent is the inconsistency and if by chance you do end up working for a casino always remember........there is no such thing as normal. LOL! TO: ALL EMPLOYEES SUBJECT: SICK LEAVE POLICY SICKNESS: No excuse...We will no longer accept your doctor's statement as proof. We believe that if you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work. AN OPERATION: We are no longer allowing this practice. We wish to discourage any thoughts that you may need an operation. We believe that as long as you are an employee here, you will need all of whatever you have and should not consider having anything removed. We hired you as you are, and to have anything removed would certainly make you less than we bargained for. DEATH: Other than your own: This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for them, and we are sure that someone else can attend to the arrangements. However, if the funeral can be held in the late afternoon, we will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and subsequently let you leave 1 hour early, provided your share of the work is ahead enough to keep the job going in your absence. Your own: This will be accepted as an excuse. However, we require at least two weeks notice as we feel it is your duty to train your replacement. ALSO: Entirely too much time is being spent in the restroom. In the future, we will follow the practice of going in alphabetical order. For instance, those whose names begin with "A" will go from 8:00-8:15, and so on. If you're unable to go at your time, it will be necessary to wait until the next day when your time comes again. We appreciate your cooperation, THE MANAGEMENT Comments (8)
